May 2022

Hi Friends.

I know I say this every time I post nowadays, but it’s been a while. I’ve been feeling the push to get back into creating content more regularly, because that is what feeds my soul😛. My goal is to start posting monthly on the blog just to give you little updates about my life, share cool things I find, and share any updates I have on the plethora of projects I am constantly dipping in and out of. That being said, let’s jump in to it:

Van Plan Update:

At the beginning of 2022, Brice and I finally purchased our dream van to start converting into a home on wheels, which we have lovingly named Rob Van Dam. In March, we finally started gutting the van, which we hope to finish before the end of this month. By the time this news letter comes out, we will have purchased the electrical components. This dream is really starting to feel real. Even though it doesn’t seem like we’ve done a lot, it’s taken a lot of research, planning, and saving to get to this point. In addition, every time we start talking about amps, volts, and watts it brings back trauma from the time I took electromagnetic physics in college (twice), which I’ve had to unpack a bit. Sometimes starting is the hardest part, and I am really proud of Brice and I for taking this leap together.

Wedding Planning Update:

Every time I think I have just about got everything planned out for the wedding, something else seems to come up that I didn’t think about (or rather realize that the deadline is coming up). Despite this, I am feeling pretty good about everything we have planned so far. Everything is unfolding exactly as I dreamed (knock on wood). Next up is getting my dress to a tailor and getting desserts sorted out. ALSO, my caterer no longer offers bartending services, so I have to find a bartender. We also recently were notified by the rehearsal dinner venue that they are no longer going to be in business, but luckily we were able to remedy that situation pretty quickly. Brice and I are very excited to finally get the government involved in our relationship. Oh and also, God and joining our two families and all that other mushy stuff.

Something cool:

At the beginning of April, Brice got to achieve his life-long dream of attending a live WWE event…. at WrestleMania!!! In addition to the magic of witnessing the biggest wrestling event of the year, Brice got to see his childhood hero, Stone Cold Steve Austin, come out of 19 year retirement and Stone Cold Stunner everyone within reach… TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW! It was so exciting to be a part of the hullabaloo that is a WrestleMania weekend, but even more exciting to be there for Brice, who had been dreaming of this moment for a long time. I know it meant a lot to him.

This information came out after I had started writing this post, but I felt like leaving this out would be disingenuous to how I am feeing right now. The news coming out of the supreme court this week is deeply upsetting and extremely frustrating. I believe all people should have safe, legal access to abortion. Abortion is healthcare.

I know not everyone reading this may agree, and I highly doubt my silly little blog about my silly little feelings will make you change your mind. I am also certain that my beliefs will not be swayed via social media comment. I am not sharing this to spark a debate. I am sharing this for those of you who feel the same way I do and who feel lost on what you can do to make a difference. I want to encourage you to write your representatives and to VOTE. Here are some additional resources:

  • Resistbot: This is a resource I have been using for years to contact my representatives. Just text RESIST to 50409 and follow the instructions. Resistbot will turn your texts to a letter and send it to the representatives of your choosing (from mayor to President).
  • Click here to find out if you are registered to vote.
  • This article also had some great resources for actions you can take.
  • Listen and uplift people who are sharing their story, especially those whose communities are most marginalized.

Lastly, if you are someone who has had an abortion, know you are strong, you are loved, and you are not alone. You are not less-than. You deserve bodily autonomy, and I take this stand so I can stand with you.

As an ADHD person, I sometimes get stuck on the same things… over and over again. To end on a much lighter note, I thought I’d share some of the more fun things I can’t stop thinking about:

  • Ru Paul’s Drag Race
  • Canning
  • Doomsday Prepping
  • Sage Green
  • Etsy Jewelry

If you have anything interesting to tell me about any of the above topics, I will glad take suggestions, thoughts, or compliments. If you’d like to hear more about any of these topics, let me know and I might make some content about it. I hope you found this, entertaining, informative, or insightful. We are in eclipse season and mercury retrograde is quickly approaching. Remember to have grace with yourself. Take breaks when you need it. Take your meds. Drink lots of water. Journal, if you need to. I hope May treats you well.

Stay groovy!
